Twitter has proven to be faster than an earthquake. After the earthquake hit Virginia on Tuesday, residents in New York City received Twitter updates about the quake before it actually hit. A 30 second time difference. Some pretty impressive tweets if you ask me.
It’s fascinating to see how everyone takes to Twitter during big events, like natural disasters. Remember how much Twitter blew up with the earthquakes in Japan?
Well, as I’m currently waiting for the newest natural disaster to come our way here in New York, I can’t help but keep my tabs on Twitter. News sites and city officials have created special accounts strictly for providing Hurricane Irene updates. Residents are tweeting pictures of their preparations and evacuations. I’ve even caught myself tweeting a few times about the storm. So when this hurricane does hit, I know where I’ll be - sitting on my bed, reading Twitter.

Ad of the Day.
Client: IKEA, Australia
Yep, I love this. It makes me really want to be a part of a furniture war. Seeing all the different types of furniture brought to this battle cracks me up, especially the curtains being used as a flag. Nicely done IKEA.

Ad of the Day.
Client: Orbit Gum
My parents came to visit me in New York this past week and we came across this ad while getting ready in the hotel. It’s a different angle on a “dirty mouth” than their previous commercials. The end of this ad was definitely not what I was expecting, but you can’t help but laugh. My dad is still laughing about it today.

I’m loving Gap’s new promotion for their 1969 jeans. They have created the Pico de Gap food truck to travel through New York, Chicago, LA and San Fransisco to hand out specialized tacos and jean coupons. The location updates are sent through their Facebook and Twitter pages to rally fans to the trucks. Food trucks are a major trend throughout the country right now, so it will be interesting to see if Gap is able to out-do restaurant food trucks who have been frequenting cities for months.

Mano a Mano en El Bano.
Well today was the epic duel between the two Old Spice spokesmen. And I must say, it was extremely entertaining. But I have give it to Isaiah Mustafa - he took the cake on this one. He is just perfect. He is great at delivering lines and never gets out character. However, something about Fabio cracks me up. Gotta applaud Old Spice on this one, pretty brilliant.
